An introduction

Hello friend,

My name is Makayla (some know me as Kayla Jean), but those closest to me call me Makay or Stakayla- we'll get to that explanation later.

I'm a small girl who grew up in a small town; a little place called Kuna, Idaho. I'm a 5 foot nothing budding photographer who loves making coffee at a little place called Dutch Brothers, and more importantly, making connections with those around me. My whole life I've lived in the same neighborhood next to the same people, and went to the same school/s as all those people for 13+ years. Some might say it sounds boring- I say it just means I've grown exceptionally close to those I've been fortunate enough to meet in the 18 years I've been alive.

Which brings me to the reason why I'm here; I never really thought blogging was my thing. But you see, I live quite an extraordinary life despite growing up in this small, off the map town, and it has been the kind of life that wakes one up and demands to be recognized in other ways aside from Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. So that's why, at 11:05 on this unusually warm summer night in the middle of July, you find me awkwardly attempting to write my first official blog post instead of heading to bed like most people who have work the next day. Which I do, if you were curious.

This life I've had is one that I would never trade for anything in the world. Nothing on this green earth could ever convince me to give it up. Nothing. And so I've taken it upon myself to begin documenting and recording everything in a different way other than through pictures and videos- through words. Words that may never reach more than 1 or 2 people, but still- words that will tell our stories forever.

Over the next few days the "our" will be explained; Mike, Kp, Lea, Scott, Taylor, Brenton, Hannah, and Curtis will all be introduced. These 8 people make up my heart and who I am, and I know that I won't be able to do them justice through simple explanations on a blog site, but I hope that I can at least give the world a glimpse at how incredible they are.

For now, I'll leave you with this: I'm not here to impress. I'm not here to be incredibly funny, or witty, or deep, or serious, or any label you can think of. I am simply here to tell. To record. To share. To feel. And to remember. For my sake, for our sake. Not for anyone else's. But, despite all that, I do hope that we intrigue you enough to stick around for awhile.

Yours truly,
Kayla Jean
